Aviv Shachak (Ph.D., FIAHSI) is a Professor at the University of Toronto where he is cross-appointed to the Institute of Health Policy, Management & Evaluation (Dalla Lana School of Public Health) and the Faculty of Information (iSchool). He is also a Wilson Centre Scholar and an Adjunct Professor at the School of Health Information Science, 樱花影视. Dr. Shachak’s work has been published in various Medical, Information Science, Professional Communication, and Biomedical Informatics journals. He is a board member of International Journal of Medical Informatics. Aviv was elected Fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics in 2021.
Prof. Shachak holds a B.Sc. degree in Life Sciences from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, M.Sc. in Horticulture from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a Ph.D. in Information Science from Bar-Ilan University, Israel. His research focuses on the sociotechnical issues involved in the use of information and communication technologies in health post-implementation. It ranges from basic foundational research to gain better understanding of the issues involved to developing, implementing, and evaluating educational solutions to the challenges.
