The offers a wide variety of adult education options for international students and professionals, enhancing language and/or professional skill sets through programs delivered in on-campus, online or hybrid formats.
The most popular international programming areas are:
- English-as-an Additional Language (EAL) and professional development programs for international educators delivered by the English Language Centre.
- Business programs delivered by the department of Business, Science and Technology.
Global Impact
The Division of Continuing Studies has a total of 124 active university partnerships around the world.
In 2025, 780 international students from 28 countries attended English Language Centre (ELC) programs, and 1,547 international students from 48 countries registered in Business certificate and diploma programs.
New partnership in Thailand
In May 2025, DCS signed an MOU with the Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nahkon (RMUTP) during a presidential visit and signing ceremony at UVic. This partnership will focus on new professional training initiatives between the ELC and RMUTP, including online learning and intensive training at the 樱花影视.
Encounters with Place
During September 2025, students in the ELC’s “Intensive English” program have the opportunity to participate in a workshop series called “Encounters with Place.” Participants will explore 樱花影视’s local ecology, learning about the land and waterscapes that surround us. Upon completion over 2 weekends, they will receive a CIFAL 樱花影视 certificate.

Award for UVic Homestay
The Division of Continuing Studies is home to the UVic Homestay department, which provides international students with the opportunity to live with a Canadian host family while studying at UVic. In late June, the UVic Homestay team received the “Award for Excellence in International Student Support” from the BC Council for International Education (BCCIE), in recognition of it’s commitment to providing welcoming, inclusive and supportive homes for international students.
Upcoming international events
- DCS staff will be travelling to Korea, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Costa Rica and Mexico this fall to visit institutional partners and attend international education events.
- Kyla Jardin, Manager of International Recruitment at DCS will be attending the “Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAEI)” in San José, Costa Rica, from October 14-17, to meet with institutional partners and showcase DCS´s variety of international programs.
