UVic welcomes Banting and Vanier scholars

The Banting Fellowship program aimed to develop world-class research capacity by attracting top-tier postdoctoral research with competitive international funding of $70,000 per year for two years. Vanier Scholarships are valued at $50,000 per year for three years during doctoral studies.

These awards support UVic’s aspirations in creating and investing in an environment of excellence for graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and early career researchers to further their research goals, and to build the capacity for the next generation of impactful researchers.

2025 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship

Krista-Lynn Joseph (Social Dimensions of Health)  

Joseph’s research focuses on “Stories of Strength: Learning from Vancouver Island First Nations experiences in the B.C. health care system”

2025 Banting Fellowship

Jaimy Fischer (Environmental Influences on Health)

Fischer’s research will examine “Pathways to Reconciliation: Documenting Urban Trail Implementation and Its Effects on Indigenous Health and Mobility Using a Two-Eyed Seeing Approach”
