Dr. Nicole Bates-Eamer is the Associate Director of CIFAL 樱花影视 and an Adjunct Professor in Political Science. She earned her PhD in Political Science from the 樱花影视 in 2022; her dissertation examined policies and framing related to the intersections of climate change and human mobilities and the conceptual disconnect between climate-related mobilities domestically and internationally. Her postdoc explored the role of and impact on public health in preparing for and responding to BC’s evacuations from floods and wildfires.

Nicole has worked at UVic since 2008, during which time she managed international research programs and conducted policy research on issues related to global governance, sustainable development, climate policy, borders, and migration. Prior to UVic, Nicole worked in UN refugee camps in western Tanzania with the NGO Right to Play, studied International Affairs at Carleton University, taught English in South Korea, and studied history and chemistry at the University of Memphis on a soccer scholarship.
