ES Grad Student Finds Hope in the Rainforest at COP30

Environmental Studies master’s student Rekha Marcus travelled to COP30 in Belém this year, where she balanced climate negotiations with a rare chance to experience the Amazon firsthand. From meeting youth and Indigenous leaders to witnessing the breathtaking biodiversity of the rainforest, Rekha returned with a renewed sense of purpose, and optimism that meaningful progress comes from collaboration across borders, cultures and disciplines. Her story is a reminder that the solutions we need already exist in the voices we uplift.
