LaunchPad pathway program

December 1, 2025

Congratulations to the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science on their recently approved LaunchPad program.

The LaunchPad program is an admission pathway, intended to address the situation of many UVic admissible students that are not being considered for the faculty's programs because they are missing one or more specific high school courses. The program admits students who have already obtained a high school diploma but are missing specific courses in the admission criteria for the Engineering or Computer Science programs, in particular, high school math and/or science courses. LaunchPad is designed to equip students with the missing skills from high school and all, or nearly all, first-year courses in the faculty’s programs over a 12-month period before being declared to their program of choice.

The program was approved by the Board of Governors in late November, on the recommendation from Senate.
