About us

ACET Logo

ACET is a multi-partner initiative accelerating the global push for resilient and equitable clean energy solutions through commmunity-based collaborations. Established in 2023 with support from the Canada First Research Excellence Fund, ACET is a partnership between Royal Roads University, University of British Columbia, Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and Yukon University, led by the 樱花影视.

Our beginning: IESVic

The Institute for Integrated Energy Systems (IESVic) was formed in 1989 by 樱花影视 researchers seeking to develop high-quality and environmentally responsible energy systems. It became an interdisciplinary research centre in 1994, initially focusing on hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, economics and transportation.

IESVic success has always been measured by collaboration. Its partnerships expanded over the years to include industry, non-profits, governments and Indigenous communities working together on critical energy issues that impact people.

Scaling success

In 2023, ACET was established to scale up the clean energy innovations developed over three decades by IESVic in partnership with communities across Canada.

ACET now works with more than 40 partners around the world to pair local knowledge with global expertise in engineering, technology, business, governance and policy. Together, we find solutions that best fit the local environment and serve generations to come.

Collaborating for change

With support from the Canada First Research Excellence Fund, ACET is a UVic-led collaboration with Royal Roads University, University of British Columbia, Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and Yukon University that is transforming Canadian clean energy research strengths into world-leading capabilities.

ACET’s work is accelerating the global search for effective clean energy solutions through place-based strategies that transform regional economies, inform inclusive national policies, and serve community needs while solving global challenges.
