Admission requirements

In order to be considered for admission to the MADS program, applicants must:

  • meet the minimum admission requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies;
  • have completed a Bachelor degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline from an academic institution recognized by the Ó£»¨Ó°ÊÓ, normally with a first-class standing;
  • meet the English Language Requirements.

Application deadlines

All applicants are recommended to submit a complete application as early as possible. Complete applications will be reviewed on a continual basis in the order in which they are received. Admission decisions and processing times will vary depending on the number of applications received.

January entry:
Applications will be accepted beginning one year prior to the entry point. 

  • Domestic applicants: October 31
  • International applicants: August 31
  • **International applicants are recommended to submit a complete application by March 15th of the previous year to allow sufficient time to meet any immigration requirements

September entry:
Applications will be accepted beginning one year prior to the entry point. 

  •  Domestic applicants: June 30
  • International applicants: April 30
  • **International applicants are recommended to submit a complete application by November 15th of the previous year to allow sufficient time to meet any immigration requirements

Entry point change requests (deferrals) to a future entry term will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and applicable fees may apply.

Fees

For the 2025-2026 calendar year, tuition is expected to be about $31,500 (domestic students) and $42,000 (international students). A non-refundable acceptance deposit of $2,000 CAD is required upon admission to the program. For current and up-to-date tuition and fees, please see the UVic Academic Calendar.

Awards and funding

The MADS program is self-funded and students pursuing this program should secure appropriate funding before beginning their studies.

However, students may be eligible for awards or bursaries. More information can be found on the faculty of graduate studies website under external awards and fellowships and bursaries.
