About Colin
Colin is currently the associate dean research in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. Prior academic and administrative positions include professor of mechanical engineering, Canada Research Chair and Visiting Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore.
Grounded in an engineering physics background, Colin’s more recent research initiatives have been in the areas of optical sensors, machine vision, instrumentation, automation and mechatronics. His research work has also involved national and international research collaborations with partners across Canada, the USA, Europe and Japan.
Colin teaches the fourth-year engineering design capstone courses and assists the student teams in partnering with industry clients, defining projects and building prototypes. His graduate students are in active collaborations with the National Research Council of Canada – Herzberg, primarily developing novel optical systems for optical telescopes.
