About Mina
Dr. Mina Hoorfar is the dean of UVic's Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, where she leads the Microfluidics and Nanotechnology Laboratory (MiNa Lab).
She is known nationally and internationally for her research and innovation in the areas of flow in microstructures, straddling the fields of fluid mechanics, biochemistry, and the fabrication of biosensors and gas sensors. Her multidisciplinary research has resulted in wide and varied applications in collaboration with industrial partners in oil and gas, different municipalities, and life sciences sectors.
Recently, her research has focused on the development of novel sensing systems for analytes in complex environments, such as microplastics within different water sources, and the development of drug delivery vehicles to optimize drug bioavailability and targeted release.
