EU Study Tour & Internship Program registration
Apply first. Registration happens after you get selected
Interested students studying at a Network university, i.e. Carleton, Dalhousie, or UVic, follow the application procedure of their home university. For example, UVic students apply by December 15, 2025, see this page.
Interested students studying at any other Canadian university apply through UVic too ( by January 11, 2026). You're applying through UVic, because it is the administrative institution of the EU Study Tour.
- Please let us know about your interest ASAP, either by applying early, or by emailing eustudytour@uvic.ca. We admit students on a rolling basis after December 15, 2025. We will need to find a faculty member at your home institution who agrees to serve as a liaison for you and the organizers. We have liaisons at several universities/departments, but not everywhere and finding one may take some time.
Note to all interested students. Before you apply, please do check out the EU study tour cost overview below. While an application is presumably an expression of serious interest, you're not yet firmly committing to participating in the Tour. You still have time to figure out your priorities and finances until you register and pay your non-refundable first fee installment (see the deadline below).
After you have been selected
After you have been selected, you will receive an email with instructions for registration and payment of the first of the two fee installments for the study tour. Please:
- Complete and submit the online registration form by Sunday January 19, 2026 at the latest. As you register you will also indicate whether you are interested in the Internship Program (IP). (Some further detail for the IP will be posted by the beginning of January.)
- Pay the first non-refundable installment of $1050 towards the overall EU Study Tour fees by Friday January 24, 2026 at the latest (ASAP is encouraged in order to accommodate students on the waitlist)
- If in the Internship Program, complete the IP registration and pay the IP fee by Thursday, February 5, 2026.
- In due time, further necessary steps will be communicated to you. For example, an important necessary step for students from universities other than UVic is that they register as a visiting student to UVic (for the purpose of participating in the study tour). We have tried to lay out the costs associated with the Tour as best as possible. Yet, what we write below is not a legal document and we do not assume any responsibility for omissions or price changes, if any.
The main costs for students are all of the costs listed below:
- European Studies Study Tour program fee (covers the costs of the programming, accommodation while on the Tour, the cost travel between the cities while on the Tour, but not local transit in Brussels, Luxembourg, Leuven, etc.):
- Network University students: $3000 (+3% credit card processing fee, if applicable)
- Other Canadian universities: $3200 (+3% credit card processing fee, if applicable)
- Tuition for the course associated with the EU Study Tour:
- Carleton students: tuition for the applicable Carleton course
- All other undergraduate students: tuition for UVic course EUS 470 (+ applicable (approximately. 50$). Students from Dalhousie and non-Network Universities in Eastern Canada: please contact eustudytour@uvic.ca
- All other graduate students: $0 (Under the Canadian University Graduate Transfer Agreement visiting graduate students are not required to pay additional tuition fees)
- Return airfare to Brussels
- Meals while on the EU Study Tour (Students pay for most [though not all] meals themselves. Accommodation is covered through the EUST program fee)
In addition to the main costs you will incur some other expenses, including:
- UVic visiting student fee
- Students must become a 'visiting student' at UVic (for liability and risk management reasons) and the associated cost is approximately $80 to $120 for undergraduate students; becoming a visiting student should be free for graduate students)
- Incidentals while on the study tour
- Local transit while on the Tour (travel between the cities that we visit is covered through the EUST program fee)
- Passport and entry visa fees (As applicable. There is no cost for Canadian nationals who stay in Europe for less than 90 days)
- Emergency travel medical insurance (As applicable. Most students are probably already covered through the extended health care plan of their home institution or their parents)
- Travel insurance (If you desire. Note that travel insurance plans cost a lot more if they include emergency travel medical insurance. However, as indicated above, students are probably already covered for this through the extended health care plan of their home institution or their parents)
Additional fees when admitted to the Internship Program:
- $1000 internship fee
- Co-op fee that your university charges (as applicable)
- UVic students in the IP will have to incur the coop fee (just over $800 for domestic students).
- Transportation to and from placement city (majority of placements are in Brussels)
- Living expenses, including lodging in placement city.
