JD & JD/JID tuition & fees

Use the following links to calculate tuition fees:

In addition to tuition costs:

  • Law Student Society fee: one-term: $170; two-term: $340
  • texts and course materials: approximately $1,500/year
  • 2025-26 Law Co-op work term fee: $808
  • cost of living off campus for a single student for 2025-26: approximately $19,500

Note: this is an estimate only and should be used to give students, parents and/or sponsors an approximation of the tuition and ancillary fees. Estimates are in Canadian dollars.

UVic Law bursary info

Bursaries are non-repayable monetary awards intended to help cover some of the financial need not met by Canadian government student loans and grants. 

View our for a list of law-specific bursaries and eligibility criteria. Applicants should not apply for specific bursaries; they will be considered for all bursaries they are eligible for through their application in the OCEAN.

You need to log into the Official Careers, Events and Advising Network (OCEAN) portal to access your bursary application.

If you’re a new student, you’ll need to create your Netlink ID and email it to lawfao@uvic.ca for access.

Deadlines

Applications:

  • Winter session – June 30
  • Summer session – May 15

Supporting documentation:

  • Winter session – August 15
  • Summer session – May 15

Checklist

  •  
  • completed UVic General bursary application
  • government student loan assessment or funding summary
  • recent pay stub (if you worked during the pre-study period)
  • mortgage documents (if you own a home)
  • last year’s income tax refund amount
  • current GST rebate amount (quarterly and annual)
