Faculty representatives to Senate

Under the University Act, the Senate is responsible for the academic governance of the university, including matters related to libraries, faculties, departments, courses of instruction, fellowships, scholarships, exhibitions, bursaries, prizes, admissions, student appeals, and the granting of degrees (including honorary degrees, diplomas and certificates). 

There are 32 faculty positions on Senate. Two members are elected from each faculty, with the remainder elected as at-large faculty members. Faculty members are elected to serve three-year terms, commencing on July 1st.

Call for nominations and elections are usually held in December and January.

First Call: Faculty Representatives to Senate 2026-2029

This is a first call for nominations for seven (7) faculty representatives on Senate for a term from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2029.

We are seeking Senators from the faculties of:

  • Education (1)
  • Engineering & Computer Science (1)
  • Graduate Studies (1)
  • Science (2)
  • Social Sciences (1)
  • Law (1)

If there is more than one candidate for any seat an election will be held January 19-23, 2026.

First Call: Continuing Sessional Representative to Senate 2026-2029

This is a first call for nominations for one (1) Continuing Sessional representative on Senate for a term from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2029.
