Bachelor of Civil Law JD applicants

We consider applications from students with a Civil Law degree who wish to attend the Faculty of Law to attain a Juris Doctor (JD) degree. The number of applicants accepted is limited to ensure that our class sizes are not significantly altered.

You must begin your JD/Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) studies at UVic within 2 years of finishing your Canadian Civil Law degree.

Students will be admitted at the discretion of the associate dean, Academic & Student Relations.

Application deadline

Applications for the JD program: April 30 at 4 p.m. PST.

Application checklist

  • fill out and submit the
  • write a personal statement (750 words max.)
  • pay the application fee
  • provide unofficial transcripts from law school and all other post-secondary schools
  • official transcripts aren’t needed now, but will be required if you’re admitted
  • if you’ve taken Constitutional Law, include a detailed course outline (syllabus)
