Biography

Dr. Anastasia Mallidou is a tenured Professor at 樱花影视 School of Nursing (researcher) with more than 40 years of experience in nursing leadership and administration. An expert in knowledge translation (KT) activities (e.g., research literacy, knowledge syntheses, evidence-based practice, evidence-based health policy) and leadership, Dr. Mallidou mainly uses quantitative research methods to a) assess research and KT competencies of healthcare professionals; b) explore barriers of and facilitators for improving research literacy and collaboration between researchers and knowledge users (e.g., policy-makers) for transparency in policy-making; and c) implement non-pharmacological treatments (e.g., exercise, music, dancing, diet, social engagement) for healthy aging and well-being.

Before moving to Canada, Dr. Mallidou served as president elect of the:

  • “Intensive Care Units” group of registered nurses, sponsored by the Hellenic Nurses Association (ESNE), Athens, Greece;
  • Graduate Nursing Students Association in Faculty of Nursing, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece; and
  • Penteli Children’s Hospital Employees’ Union representing more than 1,000 members including physicians.

Dr. Mallidou also served as a Vice-President in the largest Children’s Hospital “Aghia Sophia” in Greece for four years after receiving her PhD.
