Indigenous wellness
The Master of Nursing in Indigenous Wellness program is an opportunity for Indigenous registered nurses (RNs) to further their nursing career. You’ll focus your studies in specialized areas of community health, clinical practice, health policy, leadership, education and research. You will also develop an advanced understanding of Indigenous healthcare systems and structural contexts.
Graduates of the Indigenous Wellness program will be able to:
- engage in Indigenous nursing practice at an advanced level, such as in leadership roles or as nurse educators in academic and clinical settings
- create new knowledge through scholarship
- pursue further studies in doctoral nursing
This program is open to RNs who self-identify as First Nations, Metis or Inuit. Admission is offered to students from communities in BC, those born in Canada, followed by international Indigenous students.
Student stories
Land-based course a powerful experience
Ten Indigenous nursing master’s students came together from universities across BC for a four-day learning experience in May as part of UVic School of Nursing’s newly co-developed Indigenous Wellness stream, INDW 527B.
